Hall Cosplay

Hall Cosplay is a form of competition that you don’t apply for. Instead, cosplay agents choose competitors amongst the con-goers at the convention. This form of competitions is perfect introduction into the world cosplay competing, so if the agents approach you do consider accepting the offer.

The cosplay agents are on the move to select Hall Cosplay competitors on Saturday from 11:00 to 13:00.

• Hall Cosplay is a single person competition, with no pre-convention applications.
• Contestants costume must be handmade by them.
• When chosen by agents, the contestants must fill out an application collecting their information and reference pictures of the character cosplayed.
• The competition consists of costume judging, photographing of the competing costume and stage section for audience during the cosplay competition. The stage section will not include any performance, but we recommend that the contestant poses for the audience in character or in a character fitting way.
• Only the costume will be judged, the stage section or photographs will not be part of the judging.
• Top three costumes will be awarded by the judges.
• The Cosplay Competition is held on Saturday 21.10.2023. Contestants will receive a numbered sign that will act as entry to backstage and the Main Stage.

Freestyle Cosplay

Freestyle Cosplay is the newest competition category by Shumicon. Contestants will compete using an already existing character, but redesigning aspect of the characters design and visual appearance.

• Freestyle is a single person competition and contestants must apply through Google Forms.
• Applications are open from 1.8 to 31.8. The applications open and close at 18:00.
• Applications are through Google-forms documents and applicants are chosen in order of applying.
• Competing costumes must be handmade. Recycling and modifying parts is allowed.
• On applying, applicants will fill a form collecting their information, reference pictures of the character their design is based on and a verbal narrative of the design and the characters background.
• The competition consists of costume judging, photoshoot and a stage section for audience during the Cosplay Competition program. The stage section does not require any performances, we do recommend that the contestants pose in character for the audience at the end of the catwalk.
• The stage section or photoshoot pictures taken by the convention will not judged, only the design you have submitted.
• Top three costumes will be awarded by the judges.
• The Cosplay Competition is held on Saturday 21.10.2023. Contestants will receive a numbered sign that will act as entry to backstage and the Main Stage.
• Contestants are entitled to feedback upon request from the judges.
• Upon applying contestants give Shumicon permission to post footage of the contestant wearing their costume to the events socials and web-page.

Photoshoot Competition

Applications for the Photoshoot Competitions different categories are open from 1.8 to 31.8. The applications open and close at 18:00. Applications are through Google-forms documents and applicants are chosen in order of applying. If there more than 10 photos in a category, there will be a prejudging.
